Buderim Medical Centre

A very busy specialist required larger rooms for his burgeoning practice and approached Di to create an environment that was both energizing to work in and also a friendly, happy environment for patients. The existing building was inappropriate for such a brief, so Di set about reconstructing the layout to introduce new and better work areas and a welcoming reception area to create an exciting, totally innovative design solution. It makes visiting the doctor a new, happy experience.

Di created a staff room that feels more like a New York coffee bar, complete with a lounge area for relaxing, bookshelves, soft lighting and a huge storage space above, cleverly disguised behind cool, slatted screens.

The reception area is vibrant, with a leaning towards an earthy, green landscape, that transports patients into a different realm. The use of colour, wallcoverings and lighting all combine to complete the perfect picture of good health.

The good doctor also got his wish, with his room having a slightly nautical theme, together with dramatic wallpaper and lighting to hopefully take patients’ minds off the task at hand.

A separate clinical research and examination room got the glamorous treatment with walls covered in sparkling Art Deco inspired wallpaper. Again, lighting takes a key role.

The whole team of the practice is totally delighted with their new surroundings and the patients are all giving it a huge round of applause.
