Victorian Melbourne Residence
Di Henshall Interior Design performed an extensive renovation on this dwelling, located in Melbourne. The house was completely gutted and several existing walls were removed, to reconfigure the spaces.
The master bedroom was a triumph. The existing room received very little light from outside and felt dark and cold. Di Henshall Interior Design opened up the space by installing new skylight windows and raising the partition wall. Beautifully balanced soft furnishings have transformed the bedroom into a romantic retreat.
The existing entry space was dark & dingy. Di Henshall Interior Design replaced the existing industrial spec steel staircase and metal balustrade, with a beautiful curved timber stair to create an entry statement. The lit niches create a vertical element and their see-through nature helps to open the whole space up. New parquetry flooring was laid to complete the look. A wine cellar was also created in the void under the stairs.
The house has multiple levels – which were cleverly incorporated into the design. The kitchen and dining areas were located on the mid-level, stepping up to a living room above and family room below.
