Inner City Apartment
This beautiful inner-city apartment was transformed from a rather empty apartment into a home for the couple, their grown children and grandchildren to enjoy.
The guest room has been wrapped in limited edition Jim Thompson hand-blocked wallpaper, soft chevron-striped bronze curtains and fluffy white linen to create a warm and welcoming retreat.
Inspiration for the children’s bedroom came in the form of a little teddy bear from the USA, with his woolly stars and stripes jumper, he gave Di the idea of a truly American-style bedroom, with bold navy walls, floaty gauze curtains, striped bedhead and cushions, with plaid bedspread and chair covers. The crisp contrasts of colour make this room a wonderful bedroom for some very excited grandchildren.
The dining and lounge areas are vast, with a jaw-dropping view of the city. Muted tones and rich velvets and silks were used to tie the whole story together.
The owners love bright colour and have limited the use to just one room – the den. This is essentially a men’s gathering place, where stories are swapped and football matches watched, so the use of modern classic pieces blend comfortably with jewel-infused wallpaper and leather occasional pieces. The whole room screams FUN!
In complete contrast, the master bedroom is a haven away from the madding crowd, with gentle silks and sheer curtains softening the room into one of tranquillity and calm. The use of pastel blues, creams and pure white merge together beautifully.
