What makes you undertake projects in others states and countries?
Although all our projects in southeast Queensland are individual and designed specifically for each client, there is a common denominator; they are all located in a semi-tropical climate and that singular fact determines how we can approach the interior design on each local project. There are certain colour palettes and textures/fabrics that are not suited to this sort of climate. Similarly, when we design an inner-city apartment project, the design logic is somewhat different to when designing a beachfront family home, but both types of projects have to take the climate into consideration.
When designing for properties in rural areas, Victoria, NSW and NZ for example, the approach to the design comes in from a different angle due to the local climate, the natural light, the architecture of the region, the landscape and orientation. All of these elements give us the opportunity to expand and express our design philosophy in a broadened way, suited to the locale.
As I hail from the northern hemisphere, I understand design on both sides of the planet, so designing for projects in other states and countries is a great joy to be able to create interiors with such a diverse range of elements and challenges.
